
A hearty dish, and a staple for all indian cooks. Mung daal is a healthy nutritious dish that is simple to cook, perfect with rice or chapatti.
Ingredients
150g of red lentils
¼ chopped onion
1 heaped teaspoon of garlic ginger paste
2 tablespoons of tinned chopped tomato
1 tablespoon of olive oil
1 tablespoon of chopped coriander
½ teaspoon of garam Masala and turmeric
Salt & Chilli to taste.
Method
Add spices to cold oil in a pan and bring to a heat until the spices begin to fry
Add chopped onion and fry until slightly browned
Add garlic ginger paste and fry for 1 minute
Add lentils and twice the volume of water
Bring to the boil and simmer until the lentils are cooked (turned yellow) and you have the desired consistency
Add chilli and salt
Garnish with chopped coriander
